Beta vulgaris

Classic mangold with dark green smooth leaves and wide white stems. 

We can use the greenery and also stems. The greenery can be used in salads or as a side dish. As a side dish we can also use stems.

Mangold can be sown in a row and we cut the young leaves. We can also plant individual seedlings and then cut the outer leaves, leaving space for young leaves that grow from the heart. Adult seedlings survive winter and when it grows a flower stem in spring, we take them out and plant new ones.
