A round turnip with a bright, purple skin on the upper part. Flesh is white.
Turnip is usually consumed as sour turnip - grated and acidified (fermented). It can also be eaten raw, for example on a salad or put in brine (smaller turnips are inserted whole, while larger ones are cut into cubes).
