Phaseolus coccinea
Beans that produce very thick purple beans. When young, the beans are very fleshy and edible. The pods are woody and usually a little hairy. The leaves are also hairy, which makes these beans suitable for areas where deer are a problem pest, as they do not attack them as much as normal beans.
Tall beans are planted against a support poles or a string/wire. More seeds can be placed on each support - the number depends on the strength of the support - up to 3 seeds can be placed on the string, and up to 6 seeds can be placed on the pole. Tall corn or tall sunflowers can also be used for support.
According to the sowing guide, beans for grain can be cultivated and harvested on flower or fruit day. If fresh beans are desired, they need to be harvested on the day of flower to encourage new flowering, so that the plant has a new crop again and again. If, on the other hand, we want dry grain, we harvest it on the day of fruit, thus encouraging ripening, in which case the plant produces a thick grain. On leaf day, however, we advise against any harvesting or processing of beans at all, as this promotes the development of fungi, which later manifest themselves in the form of the disease.
